The collaboration with neighborhood associations needs to take place on a semi annual basis. Attend the meetings and communicate the plans for each next six months. Also establish a separate department or provide a bigger budget under DPW so dead trees are removed and stumps ground out and new trees planted.

Make rules that mature trees cannot be removed. The urban forest is a precious resource that is irreplaceable. Trees provide relief from heat islands, reduce air pollution, absorb storm runoff, create tranquility, increase property values because of their assets.
